July 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Occasional Wreath

Who does not want one’s wedding to be the talk of the town. People saying, this was one of that most beautiful wedding ceremony that I had ever attended, and the decorations they were so wonderful and enchanting, that it was just like attending a fairy tale wedding. Well if you want your wedding to be as magical and charming as in the fairy tales, you can do it with the paper wreath decorations.

Their delicate petals, the glowing silvery centers and the tissue paper that makes the flowers gives the wreath a delightful look. To make this fairy tale wreath you will need white colored tissue paper and white floral tape. Then you will require small decorative silver balls and a roll of satin ribbon also in silver color whose width should be about 1 inch. Lastly you will need a hot glue gun and an 1-inch thick disk made up of Styrofoam.

· The first step of this wreath making process will be to cut out a hole through the center of the disk so that the disk resembles a ring. After you make the hole attach the ribbon along the inner and outer sides of the ring using the hot glue gun.

· The next step requires you to make flowers out of the tissue paper and the silver balls. Making this flower is easy, place a round object with a diameter of 3 inches on the tissue paper and cut out a circle using a sharp pair of scissors. One flower will require three such circles. Then put one tissue paper circle over the other and put a floral wire through its center. After that take one or two silver balls and slide it through the floral wire having the paper circles. Then stack the paper and the ball against each other. Tape the remaining part of the floral wire with the white floral tape. Your paper flower is ready. For one wreath you will have to make about 25 such flowers.

· Once you have all the flowers ready secure them along the circle of the wreath with the help of the hot glue gun. While attaching the flowers to the wreath make sure you leave no space in between them.

· Lastly, take 25 inch long silver satin ribbon and secure it to the top of the wreath, so that the wreath seems to hang on the ribbon. Then you can attach this ribbon to one of the pews.

You will have to make one each of this kind of wreath for every pew. This will take a little trouble, but the end result will be worth it.

If you happen to have your wedding during the late summer that is in the season of the grapes, then a grapevine wedding wreath will be perfect for the occasion. This will bring the lovely fragrance of the grapes and its vines right into your wedding ceremony.

The things that you will require to make this grapevine wedding wreath are:

  • Long scraps of grape vines
  • Shears that you use for pruning
  • A plastic bucket
  • Floral wire
  • A pair of pliers and
  • Flowers that go with the grape vines.

After gathering these requirements for the wreath making you just need to take the following steps:

  • First of all using your pruning shears cut long pieces of the grape vine.
  • After you have cut the vine into long pieces, you may want to remove the leaves off the vine. When you remove the leaves off the vine it will be better if you leave some of the vine curls. The curls will enhance the appearance of the wreath.
  • Then take a wire wreath frame and weave the vine along the circle of the wreath frame. When you weave begin with the thick end and ending the vine coil with the narrow one.
  • Once you finish with the weaving tuck the narrow end of the vine into the wreath and then secure it tightly using the floral wire. Then get hold of your next length of grapevine and start weaving this over the first vine. This time start with the narrower end and end it with the thicker end going in the opposite direction of the first one. Doing this will give your wreath proportion.
  • Continue weaving the grapevine in this alternate manner till you get a bulky grapevine wreath. In between make sure that you fasten the vines to the wreath firmly, using the floral or the craft wire.
  • Once you have the wreath ready you may add flowers and filler foliage to the wreath. Use flowers and fillers that go with the look of the grapevine. You can secure these flowers and foliage also with the floral wire.
  • Lastly you may place red colored satin ribbon bow to the bottom of the grapevine wedding wreath.

Wreaths are the best way to make your wedding day more beautiful. They add more romance to your romantic wedding ceremony. You can hang these wedding wreaths to the chairs or place them on the table or simply hang them on the walls or the pews. You may also have these wedding wreaths for the bride’s maid to carry as the walk down the aisle. The ivy-wedding wreath simply looks elegant in the hands of the bridesmaid as they take the walk.

Making an ivy-wedding wreath is very easy and simple, in fact so simple and easy that you can make them even by yourself. To make one you will need the following items:

  • A garland made up of ivy,
  • Silk flowers of your choice and baby’s breath,
  • A wire wreath form,
  • A roll of satin ribbon,
  • Floral wire,
  • Hot glue gun,
  • A pair of scissors and wire cutters.

So to start with the wreath making, you will have to weave the ivy garland round the wire wreath form. To secure the garland to the wreath use the floral wire. After securing the garland to the front side of the wreath take another ivy garland and weave it to the other in the same way as the first one. Then secure this one also using the floral wire.

Then using the pair of scissors cut the baby’s breath into small pieces and glue them evenly in between the ivy.

After placing the baby’s breath into the ivy, get your silk flowers and glue them also in between the ivies and the baby’s breath. But before you glue them, it will be better if you arrange them across the wreath first. See if their arrangement looks good or not. Once you get the right look you start gluing them to the wreath. If you are using fresh flowers secure them with the help of the floral wire.

This will make your ivy-wedding wreath ready for the ribbon. That is, to finish off the wreath you will have to secure the ribbon by doubling it up, to the inside of the wreath. Since the ivy is purple in color it will be better if you use a purple ribbon for this purpose.

The ivy-wedding wreath is ready and it will also make for a wonderful souvenir of the wedding day.
