Occasional Wreath- Paper Wedding Wreaths For Pews

July 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Occasional Wreath

Who does not want one’s wedding to be the talk of the town. People saying, this was one of that most beautiful wedding ceremony that I had ever attended, and the decorations they were so wonderful and enchanting, that it was just like attending a fairy tale wedding. Well if you want your wedding to be as magical and charming as in the fairy tales, you can do it with the paper wreath decorations.

Their delicate petals, the glowing silvery centers and the tissue paper that makes the flowers gives the wreath a delightful look. To make this fairy tale wreath you will need white colored tissue paper and white floral tape. Then you will require small decorative silver balls and a roll of satin ribbon also in silver color whose width should be about 1 inch. Lastly you will need a hot glue gun and an 1-inch thick disk made up of Styrofoam.

· The first step of this wreath making process will be to cut out a hole through the center of the disk so that the disk resembles a ring. After you make the hole attach the ribbon along the inner and outer sides of the ring using the hot glue gun.

· The next step requires you to make flowers out of the tissue paper and the silver balls. Making this flower is easy, place a round object with a diameter of 3 inches on the tissue paper and cut out a circle using a sharp pair of scissors. One flower will require three such circles. Then put one tissue paper circle over the other and put a floral wire through its center. After that take one or two silver balls and slide it through the floral wire having the paper circles. Then stack the paper and the ball against each other. Tape the remaining part of the floral wire with the white floral tape. Your paper flower is ready. For one wreath you will have to make about 25 such flowers.

· Once you have all the flowers ready secure them along the circle of the wreath with the help of the hot glue gun. While attaching the flowers to the wreath make sure you leave no space in between them.

· Lastly, take 25 inch long silver satin ribbon and secure it to the top of the wreath, so that the wreath seems to hang on the ribbon. Then you can attach this ribbon to one of the pews.

You will have to make one each of this kind of wreath for every pew. This will take a little trouble, but the end result will be worth it.

July 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Occasional Wreath

There is no better way to make your wedding ceremony evergreen, than with an evergreen wedding wreath. The evergreen wedding wreaths gives your wedding the touch of freshness. They will also act as the symbol for a long lasting marriage, a union as evergreen as the wreath.

To make an evergreen wedding wreath you will need the following requirements.

  • Evergreen flowers and foliage of your choice,
  • A wire wreath frame,
  • Ribbons,
  • A pair of scissors and garden shears and floral wire.

To begin with gather large amount of evergreen foliage enough for making one wreath. Then using the pair of garden shears trim your foliage to a height of 6 inches.

Next, get your wire wreath frame. This wreath frame you can also make with one of your old wire cloth hanger. Just bend the wire into a circle and you will have your the frame for your wreath ready.

Then gather some of your trimmed foliage and make them into a bunch with all its stems facing one end. Once you have the bunch of foliage ready place them on the wreath frame and secure the bunch to the frame with the help of the floral wire.

Continue making like foliage bunches and place them along the circle of the frame, securing them all with the floral wire. When the last bunch of foliage meets the first bunch, overlap one over the other and tie them tightly with the floral wire. Placing all these evergreen trimmings should cover the wreath frame fully.

When you have the wreath with the evergreen trimmings ready you may experiment arranging your flowers on the wreath. Place the flowers according to a design with even spacing between them. Once you finish with the experimental arrangement flowers step back and see your wreath. If the wreath looks good and attractive to your eyes, you can begin with securing flowers to the wreath with the floral wire. If the arrangement does not meet your eyes then rearrange your flowers until you get the kind of look that you want.

After finishing with the flowers, take the ribbon and tie it into a bow to the bottom of the wreath. This will make your evergreen wedding wreath ready for the wedding ceremony

Occasional Wreath- Grapevine Wedding Wreath

July 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Occasional Wreath

If you happen to have your wedding during the late summer that is in the season of the grapes, then a grapevine wedding wreath will be perfect for the occasion. This will bring the lovely fragrance of the grapes and its vines right into your wedding ceremony.

The things that you will require to make this grapevine wedding wreath are:

  • Long scraps of grape vines
  • Shears that you use for pruning
  • A plastic bucket
  • Floral wire
  • A pair of pliers and
  • Flowers that go with the grape vines.

After gathering these requirements for the wreath making you just need to take the following steps:

  • First of all using your pruning shears cut long pieces of the grape vine.
  • After you have cut the vine into long pieces, you may want to remove the leaves off the vine. When you remove the leaves off the vine it will be better if you leave some of the vine curls. The curls will enhance the appearance of the wreath.
  • Then take a wire wreath frame and weave the vine along the circle of the wreath frame. When you weave begin with the thick end and ending the vine coil with the narrow one.
  • Once you finish with the weaving tuck the narrow end of the vine into the wreath and then secure it tightly using the floral wire. Then get hold of your next length of grapevine and start weaving this over the first vine. This time start with the narrower end and end it with the thicker end going in the opposite direction of the first one. Doing this will give your wreath proportion.
  • Continue weaving the grapevine in this alternate manner till you get a bulky grapevine wreath. In between make sure that you fasten the vines to the wreath firmly, using the floral or the craft wire.
  • Once you have the wreath ready you may add flowers and filler foliage to the wreath. Use flowers and fillers that go with the look of the grapevine. You can secure these flowers and foliage also with the floral wire.
  • Lastly you may place red colored satin ribbon bow to the bottom of the grapevine wedding wreath.

Occasional Wreath- Bridal Wedding Wreath

July 18th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Occasional Wreath

Wreaths are the best way to make your wedding day more beautiful. They add more romance to your romantic wedding ceremony. You can hang these wedding wreaths to the chairs or place them on the table or simply hang them on the walls or the pews. You may also have these wedding wreaths for the bride’s maid to carry as the walk down the aisle. The ivy-wedding wreath simply looks elegant in the hands of the bridesmaid as they take the walk.

Making an ivy-wedding wreath is very easy and simple, in fact so simple and easy that you can make them even by yourself. To make one you will need the following items:

  • A garland made up of ivy,
  • Silk flowers of your choice and baby’s breath,
  • A wire wreath form,
  • A roll of satin ribbon,
  • Floral wire,
  • Hot glue gun,
  • A pair of scissors and wire cutters.

So to start with the wreath making, you will have to weave the ivy garland round the wire wreath form. To secure the garland to the wreath use the floral wire. After securing the garland to the front side of the wreath take another ivy garland and weave it to the other in the same way as the first one. Then secure this one also using the floral wire.

Then using the pair of scissors cut the baby’s breath into small pieces and glue them evenly in between the ivy.

After placing the baby’s breath into the ivy, get your silk flowers and glue them also in between the ivies and the baby’s breath. But before you glue them, it will be better if you arrange them across the wreath first. See if their arrangement looks good or not. Once you get the right look you start gluing them to the wreath. If you are using fresh flowers secure them with the help of the floral wire.

This will make your ivy-wedding wreath ready for the ribbon. That is, to finish off the wreath you will have to secure the ribbon by doubling it up, to the inside of the wreath. Since the ivy is purple in color it will be better if you use a purple ribbon for this purpose.

The ivy-wedding wreath is ready and it will also make for a wonderful souvenir of the wedding day.

One may forget anything but one cannot just forget one’s wedding day and more so the brides. As a memoir to their wedding days the wedding couple’s take way home many thighs from the wedding. One of them is the wedding wreath. These wedding wreaths being as beautiful and charming as they are, also serve as wonderful memoir of the wedding day if you preserve and store them well.

Here are some tips, which you can use to preserve your wedding day memories in the form of the wedding wreath:

  • If your wedding wreath is a fresh flower wreath, then you will have to first dry your wreath to preserve them. You can use any of the drying methods to dry your wreath. The ‘any’ drying method implies to the air-drying method, sand drying, freeze-drying and the drying with the help of desiccants. But among these many the best drying method for the wreath will be the sand drying method. To sand dry your wreath get a box big enough for the wreath to fit in. Then pour some dry river sand into the box and place your wreath over the sand. After that pour more sand over the wreath covering it fully. Put the lid of the box and place it in a dry place. The complete drying of then wreath will take about two months. After which take the wreath out of the box and brush off the sand using a painting brush. Then you can put your wreath in a glass box and place it in your living as a souvenir of the memorable day.
  • If you happen to use a dried flower-wedding wreath, then preserving it is easier. Once you get home, you will just have to place them inside a box made out of glass or a plastic sheet that are especially made for this purpose.

These tips you can use to preserve your wedding wreaths and hence relive your wedding day year after year through the wreaths.

Marriages may or may not be made in heaven, but the preparations definitely have to be made on earth, and all those who have gone through it know its no mean feat. There are innumerable decisions to take, hordes of shopping to be done, invitations to be sent out and more. One of the things which cause panic to the would-be bride is her wedding bouquet. The style, design, choice of flowers to match her wedding gown and also the color code of the wedding décor has to be kept in mind. Here we have given few simple steps to make a cascade wedding bouquet yourself to avoid unnecessary hassles with the florist.

The cascade wedding bouquet is carried by the bride on her arms, the overflowing flowers and foliage giving her a soft, elegant yet fairy – like look. The shape of the cascade or teardrop bridal bouquet is perfect for an elegant dress.

Materials you will need:

Bouquet holder

Satin cloth

Scissors

Rose, carnations, gardenias, gerberas and small flowers

Ivy

Floral pins

Instructions:

Step1

The first and the most important step is to select flowers that will complement the bride. While selecting, keep in mind her skin tone, color of her dress and color code of the wedding décor .Roses, carnations, gardenias, tulips and hydrangeas are the most popular choices for this type of wedding bouquets. Sunflowers make a gorgeous bouquet, too.

Step2

Take the bouquet holder and grasp it tightly. Now we shall start working. Cover the entire foam area with flat greenery first. This will ensure that no part of the foam is visible. For shaping the cascade bridal bouquet, place the first long spray of flowers in that part of the bouquet holder which is facing away from the bride. This should be the longest part of the arrangement.

Step3

Now, insert flowers on both sides of the first layer. Cut each of these down about three inches shorter than the original flower length so they will be shaped nicely.

Step4

Now that we have made the basic structure, let’s fill it up. Insert the larger flowers such as gardenias to fill the top portion of the bouquet and the smaller flowers to fill the remaining spaces. Secure the flowers with glue or floral pins. Allow some of the flowers to tip slightly forward.

Step6

Drape long flowing ivy from the holder by lifting gently underneath the base of the flowers. The shape of the cascade bridal bouquet is like a waterfall. The effect should be long and flowing. Finish off with covering the holder in satin or tulle.

The wedding bouquet was originally a special wedding gift from the bridegroom to his wife on the wedding day. On the special day, the bridegroom would pick flowers from the field and arrange them himself to present his bride. This act of love was greatly treasured by the bride who carried it with pride the whole day- the day most significant in their lives.

However, this beautiful tradition has lost much of its original essence and the task of making the bridal bouquet is relegated to a wedding professional or florist. Many bridal bouquets today are made without much regard to the origin of this custom. Therefore, on many occasions, the bouquet turns out to be a creation of wire and glue, rather than a bunch made up with genuine love and affection.

One of the most elegant forms of the wedding bouquets is the cascade bouquet. It gets its name from its overflowing cascading structure. Towards the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, most of the bridal bouquets were made of roses or carnations. Usually these bouquets were hand tied. In order to give the bouquet an elongated look and therefore make it more elegant, long vines of Asparagus setaceus “Plumosus” were added .These bouquets were carried by the bride on their arms with the flowers and vines overflowing like a cascading waterfall.

However, with the passage of time, the cascade bouquet lost much of its free flowing structure and gained a bit of stiffness. The stylized drop form is a good example of this changed form..

The elegant cascade wedding bouquet reappeared on the wedding scene with a bang in the early 1980’s, thanks to Lady Diana of Britain who carried a sumptuous cascade bouquet on her wedding day. Brides must also thank the German floral designers for bringing a revival in the design and composition of the cascade wedding bouquet.
